Preparation for the future should begin as early as possible so the child can thrive in the world without problems. Our school’s mental arithmetic program, which is uniquely using the hikari method in the USA, provides a solid foundation for this. Here’s what it exactly means.
The Asian method is used in more than 12 countries around Europe in more than 180 schools to help 28.000 children get the most out of life. Our school is operating on the basis of a Japanese mental arithmetic program that is based on the Total Brain Development Program (TBDP) and the Blind method. The goal is to balance the functioning of your child’s right and left hemispheres.
Why should they be balanced?
The difference between the hemispheres is manifested in their function, but at the same time they complement each other. The left is digital while the right is the analog hemisphere. The former is used during speech, writing, reading or counting, and the latter guides our emotions, gives us creativity, and helps us to recognize forms, colors and images. The different use of hemispheres is responsible for the frequent learning difficulties of children. Most subjects make the left hemisphere work, in which case the right, which is more dominant in childhood, has no job. Without a task, same as kids, they start to be bored, so they are looking for work. Being responsible for creativity, the right one chooses fantasy, so the child loses attention during a lesson. The kids’ ability to concentrate is impaired, and their memory capacity is reduced.
How do we activate both hemispheres?
We recommend this program for 5-12-year-olds, as this is the time when most stimuli are reaching them and they can absorb the most information. Our most important tool is abacus. First, our students learn how to use it. As they learn to perform basic mathematical operations with the abacus, they activate more senses, such as vision, hearing and touch. After the intense brain training, the emphasis is placed on visualization, and the actions will be performed by imagining the device only in front of them. Thanks to what they have learned, they will be able to process the information with their senses, and thus use most of the nerves. Data is transferred from one brain hemisphere to another, thus maximizing brain work, so that children can achieve outstanding results.
